Before the finished work

A studio table holds a different kind of archive: scraps of paper, colour tests, unfinished drawings and materials waiting for a use. These fragments record the decisions that a finished work may conceal.

Not every experiment becomes a painting. Some remain as reminders of a possibility. Others return months later, transformed by a new context.
